![]() ![]() Surrounded by 4 lines of barbed wire fence, the pasture stands ready to add crucial grazing acres to any livestock operation. Next time I might try Two Men and A Truck or just bite the bullet and go with North American Van Lines or something. After many successful years of raising cattle Robert has decide to retire, and is offering this excellent opportunity to purchase contiguous pasture acres for 2024 and beyond. Recommendation to others - be very clear when you ask questions up front about who will be handling your household goods and also upgrade the moving insurance coverage from what they are required to provide by law. Having moved myself multiple times, plus a couple of "full-service" moves, this was my first experience with a "brokered" move. ![]() Conclusion - Even though the move was initially estimated at $6340 and the final cost was $9200, it was not the move I expected for the money. Filed a claim - might get $0.60 on the pound, which won't be nearly enough to replace the lost/damaged items, but whatever. Then there was the damage - broken shelves, broken lamp, scratched shelves, treadmill console with broken display (in a box that the mover packed) not to mention the missing box and missing shelves. So they dropped boxes, stacked heavy boxes on top of boxes clearly marked FRAGILE DO NOT STACK, etc. The contracted help that the moving contractor had contracted with to unload was in a rush - they had 3 or 4 other jobs that day. Unloading was relatively smooth, but not gentle. OK so let's just absorb that and move on. All in all about $2000 more than we had expected. Loading went well - but then came the final estimate for the move - additional $800+ for fuel surcharge, elevator fee (daughter was in a 3 story apartment with and elevator), excessive distance for loading fee. Once the movers showed up it was obvious that this was NOT a Wheatland mover but a contractor - which was a disappointment because I didn't think that Wheatland was a broker - but they had brokered our move to another company. So we had to rush to get the final packing done so that we would be ready for the morning pick-up. They called back about 2 hours later and said that the driver would be there in the morning on Friday - and he pretty much insisted that the pick-up time be moved to the morning. We said we wouldn't be ready until at least 200 pm on Friday - and they agreed. Even though we had agreed to a pick-up date for Saturday, the dispatcher called and asked to move it up a day to Friday. Then came the day of the move - actually the day before the move. Initial interaction with Wheatland was very positive - and helpful. The delivery driver threatened to leave my effects on the sidewalk when I protested the 'long carry' fee upon delivery. I believe that this mover scams people by quoting a 'low' binding estimate and then finds new ways to squeeze extra payments from customers. ![]() Alex the Dispatcher was rude Mark Greene, who had been so responsive prior to payment, never returned repeated calls and emails asking for his help and intervention. This resulted in another 'long carry' charge of $200. They again sent a 18-wheeler semi-truck to make delivery on. I was forced to pay an additional $280 charge for 'long carry' and stairs over and above their 'binding estimate'. The mover knew that pickup was to be from an apartment but sent a huge semi-truck with just the driver that could not enter the apartment complex. When I told them that was not possible because I would be out of town, they kept moving pickup between and. ![]() The contract was signed on and the mover had scheduled pickup between 10/9 and 10/11. ![]()
